Artists That Hit #1 With Their Debut Single (2008-2014)

And now we have the final segment of our feature.  Artists who went all the way to #1 with their first hit from 2008 to the present.

You may wonder why there were so many earlier in the Rock Era, and now, we can fit seven years' worth on one page now.  Two things--1) the quality of music is far inferior now than earlier, and 2) the level of competition is much weaker now.  In the 60's and 70's, and in most years of the Rock Era, there were simply too many songs vying for airplay, and songs didn't last 52, 60, and 70 weeks the way they do now.  There were great songs to replace them, but such is not the case now, so a song will sit there on the chart because there aren't enough good songs to knock them out.
